Meet the Walrus
August 20th, 2008This one is a little bit old, but it is great. I love the animation style and all of the transitions are fantastic. Illustrated by James Braithwaite and produced by Josh Raskin. Enjoy!

Again, I apologize for the randomness of posting, life is crazy. Have been job hunting for a new job as of late. Anywho, today I bring you a great letterpress company that I stumbled upon the other day. Full Circle Letterpress is stationed out of Nevada City, California and their work is quite beautiful.
Fine handcrafted work and a variety of different kinds from stationary to wedding invitationsĀ make this company a quite lovely little letterpress company. Their website is also quite simplistic and nicely put together as well.
Be sure and check out the part of their company that specializes in wedding invitations, A day in May as well. You can view that part of their work over on their website here.
Well, today I have the pleasure of showing you the work of another friend of mine that I met over the summer. Kyle Eby is from Columbus, Ohio and is quite a talented artist. From screenprinting to photography and design this guy can do a lot. Here is one of my favorite pieces of his from his screen printing collection.

Check out his entire portfolio and you might even see some of the stuff that we worked together on over the summer.
Over the summer I had the great pleasure of working with Firebelly Design during an intense 10 day design charette for a non-profit client. It was a great time. While their I was introduced to the work of a fellow designer named Nick Santore. His portfolio is quite decent and covers a vast array of mediums from illustration to packaging, layout, and video production. Here is one of my favorite pieces from his work for CAKE (Chicago Arts, Knowledge, and Entertainment), the work is from issue number six of the magazine.
Check out more of his work on his website right here. And, for your viewing pleasure here is the man himself sporting one of his very own designed t-shirts.
Well, after a very long and very busy hiatus, I am back and still quite busy. Things are going well at this point though, I am actually in the process of relocating so posting may be a little sporadic for a while but I am trying to get things back to the way that they were before the summer got out of control.
Anyhow, for my first post back I had the pleasure of enjoying my friend Duncan’s MFA thesis show, and it was quite fantastic. One of my favorite pieces of all is the work that he has been doing for a design section of a fantastic furniture company called Dessin Fournir and their client Lb. Brewing and their restaurant Gella’s Diner. A local brewery and restaurant, they are constantly releasing new flavors of beers. Here is a collection of twelve different beer insignias that he has developed for their recent releases
There is some gorgeous typography work in these and all of them have a soft handmade feel that help personalize the beer and add the little bit of human touch that can be seen in great design.
The colors and the hand-drawn effect are some of my favorite parts of these labels. Each one of them has their own personality and is just very inviting, which lends itself quite nicely to the atmosphere of the bar/restaurant.
And of course we need one for those of us not quite old enough to enjoy the actual beers.
