I don't usually start these posts based on FlickR finds just because flickr is a mainstream tool that I imagine everyone out there is at least familiar with and probably interacts with on a daily basis in some form or another. However, I just had to share these magazine page spreads from the Italian gentleman's style magazine, IL. I will let them mostly speak for themselves as they are fantastic examples of color, type, graphic treatment, and information design. I will however point you to the Flickr Stream, Facebook Page, Website (Parlare italiano?), and a nice preview from MagCulture.

So my last week got a little bit hectic and things have been very busy here in the studio. That being said, the Scientific American has collected some sculptures of impossible shapes that are quite intriguing. Most of them require you to stand at a specific point making them less subjective, anyhow. Let the images blow your mind by checking them out online.

Ping Mag, Typography from Tokyo

In case the title wasn't clear enough, Ping Mag is a Tokyo based operation with many articles posted to the internet regarding 'making things'. There are many great posts related to typography from the Japanese culture found in Tokyo, from Asian Swiss Design to Laundromats this site is a wealth of information. Get over there and read it all quick though, they have officially stopped producing any new articles and the site will probably not be around very much longer. What are you waiting for?

Design for Mankind

Now there's something that I can get behind, Design for Mankind, is an 'attempt to bring to light the inspiration found in today's creative culture.' Also, it's a magazine. And an online publication, and a blog, and so much more. From beards to temporary graffiti, Design for Mankind has it's finger on the pulse. Hit up their site and learn more about what's happening on the very edge of creativity.

Twenty 2wo and Adam Beneke

Another day, another magazine, and this is a great one. An indy magazine featuring artists and designers from around the world, Twenty2wo is a great reference tool for some inspiration that is top notch but may not bee world reknowned yet. And, as a bonus, you can download it or view it online for free! That's right, free. The magazine is produced by Adam Beneke who also runs a blog and has a nice little portfolio of work. Adam was nice enough to send over these samples, but the real PDF is much more delicious. So head on over there and be inspired.

The Underground Art School

After devoting much of last week to books, I have decided to spend this entire week using my time and the space here to cover another publication media, magazines! And to start us off we have a great one! The Underground Art School is an up and coming magazine that has only released one issue, but it looks pretty hot so far. I really love the handmade aspect and the notebook highlighter typography. You can read all about it, see some of the artists related to the publication, and learn when you can submit entries for the next issue on their site. Get Over There and check it out.

Good Is

Another awesome find from Good Magazine, I found these insert-like publications regarding some serious national concerns that are done quite well. The information contained within is pertinent and relevant, especially considering that our country has some serious decisions to make in the next month or so.

The best part about these things are the info-graphic design that is contained within them. I love the info-graphic design that Good does in their magazine already, and these are the icing on the cake. It helps that they're hand held size and portable as well!
