The Chronicles of Narnia
I have always been a fan of C.S. Lewis’ masterpiece series The Chronicles of Narnia and when a chance arose to design screen printed posters for the first three books I jumped at the chance. I wanted to use the same color palette across all three posters but create distinctly different variations for each one as well. A total of four colors were printed on white paper to achieve the differences, each one focusing on a specific color more than the others. Gray for The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe to symbolize the White Witch’s removal of life from Narnia, purple to represent the royalty of Prince Caspian, and the blue of the sea in the Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Process and Production
Watch the video of my illustration process for the poster of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. You’ll notice that it took me quite some time to figure out the colors. I then worked with the fine folks atThe Half and Half who did an amazing job laying down the ink on these bad boys.
